About Me

My name is Kamia/Lyle Acoba, and I use they/them pronouns. As a queer Filipino-Caucasian kid, the movies and shows that reflected people like me with a multi-faceted identity were few and far between. I always wanted to write stories, then my desire for people to “see” what I envisioned drove me toward filmmaking. In my film journey, I found an unrivaled passion for editing and a deeper appreciation for interpersonal dramas that centered on underrepresented communities.

Through my work, I hope to reach audiences who don’t always feel seen and show them that their stories are important. Intersectional identities and stories are complex and can leave many of us feeling like we don’t belong in a specific place. Therefore, I want to be the voice to show that we are special and belong in this world in our own right.
